H.P. Barrett III was born in Charleston, SC, in 1951 and spent the first 30 years of life on the move across America and the world to live, learn and experience a treasure trove of jewels that bedeck each and every writing project.
The son of a U.S. Naval career officer, H.P. himself enlisted in the navy in 1970 and spent the next four years primarily in foreign ports and lands. From Australia to the Bering Sea; from the Tonkin Gulf and Sea of Japan to the shores of Mexico, California, Washington and Alaska, there was a lesson to be learned and a story to tell.
Early education in Honolulu was completed in the post-service years at the University of Hawaii where he earned degrees in Journalism and Political Science. In 1995, he attended Georgia Christian College (Athens, GA) to begin work on a Masters Degree in Religious Studies, and the educational process continues.
After a media career that encompassed newspapers, radio, television magazines and now the Internet, Barrett has turned to full-time freelance writing and editing as he works on a novel and writes and collects his published poems for a planned upcoming volume.
He currently lives and writes out of the state of Texas and has one daughter, Anna Baron Naeko Barrett, attending Central Florida University in Orlando.
